28 teams braved the heat and the traffic to compete in the 2022 edition of the Dennis Wilson Memorial tournament hosted by the City of Fredericton. Winds stayed relatively low the entire 2-day event and daily temperatures soared north of 30 degrees. Again this year, teams from Nova Scotia and PEI joined the NB teams for the event, making this a true Atlantic Canada, lower Saint John river showdown.
As the sun set on the second day of competition, it was the newly formed team of Mason/Boutillier holding the first place trophies with a combined weight of 29.60 lbs. The Nova Scotia team of Stokdijk/Stokdijk took home second place with 28.20 lbs with the day 1 leaders, Arsenault/Alward rounding out the top 3.
The day 1 lunker of 3.8 lbs was caught by the team of MacLeod/Carver and the day 2 lunker of 4.0 lbs was brought to the scales by Nickerson/Kendrick.
Teams now set their sights on big fish country in Perth-Andover.
