John was born in Chatham and grew up in Bartibog Bridge where he established a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed family gatherings and spent many summers camping with his family and friends.
He enjoyed salmon fishing on the Miramichi, bass fishing and the many great trout fishing trips. Hunting trips to Maple Grove and later Currieburg were something he looked forward to every season.
John enjoyed snowmobiling, both track racing and family outings. He owned his first snowmobile at the age of 12. In later years, John enjoyed the sport of motocross riding.
He will be missed by his many friends.
